Date/Time: Monday, December 12, 2011, 3:00p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Speaker: Shelly Spiro, Director, Pharmacy e-Health Information Technology Collaborative
Description:
This webinar will focus on outlining and providing an overview of the Roadmap for Pharmacy HIT developed
and authored by the Advisory Work Group members of the Pharmacy e-HIT Collaborative (Collaborative), an
organization that was founded in 2010 by nine national pharmacy associations. The Roadmap outlines the
priorities of the pharmacy profession in relation to HIT for the next four years including steps toward the
adoption of electronic health records (EHRs) by pharmacists which will contribute to safe and effective
medication use. The Roadmap provides guidance to provider organizations, policymakers, vendors, payers,
and other stakeholders involved in the integration of pharmacy health information technology (HIT) into the
national HIT infrastructure.
Pharmacists and others interested in learning more about the profession’s HIT goals for the next four years should join the webinar. The Roadmap is a comprehensive and historic document encompassing pharmacists’ meaningful use of electronic health records (EHRs) across all practice settings. Adoption of EHRs by the profession of pharmacy will support pharmacists with the tools to further drive improvement on the pharmacists’ ability to provide safe and effective medication use by patients with the ultimate goal of facilitating access to electronic, medication-related information for all partners on the interdisciplinary health care team.
